Daniel Dénécheau
Born in Suresnes, France, Daniel discovered the diatonic accordion in 1976 with the disk "Spécial instrumental : l’accordéon diatonique" by Jean Blanchard et Jean Loup Baly. This icon of French traditional music led our composer into the world of dance hall, concerts, theatre and recording. His exploration of the "musette", a music born of the immigration to Paris by workers from the Auvergne region in the early 1900's, introduced him to what the French call the accordéon diatonique mixte, an instrument of which he is a rare and gifted exponent. With it, he features on volumes 1 & 3 of "Paris-Musette" a trilogy which won the Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros. He also plays guitar, washboard and shawm which all feature in his compositions for film documentaries and production music. He continues to give courses in diatonic accordion.
